When I lived out in the country my cat took to hunting - apparently it is more common with female cats. She brought in mice & shrews from the field, but also a baby bunny. Traumatic all round.

I think your neighbours are being a little ... shall we say lacksadaisical letting the rabbits roam free. I'm glad you're being vigilant.
