Very detailed & informative post Marie.
After my cancer I couldn’t bear to look at my scar - it was ugly & unsightly and proof that I’d had cancer in my body BUT I needed to look at it to care for it and help it heal (lots of massage with bio oil)
I kept telling myself that my scar was how they had saved my life. Without that scar a toxic enemy would still be in my body & so gradually I came to terms with it.
IDK if that helps you think about how you will regard yourself post operation, but I agree you can’t rush your‘adjustment’ to the new normal.
I hope all is progressing in a positive manner with tests & your planned treatment xx
