…r speaks of a more Mediterranean origin. His back, too, is reminiscent of Italy… Renaissance Italy. He is as finely sculpted as any work of Michelangelo: a deep furrow runs down between his shoulders, past broad wings of muscle, all the way to his blind cupid, which seems solid as marble and tight as a matron’s corsets. The good reverend may be forgiven his misjudgement: I, too, believe this man’s body to be angelic.
